GP Training

Parbold Surgery is an accredited training practice.

Currently doctors attend medical school for 5 years as an undergraduate. They then become a junior doctor for a minimum of 5 further years.

After graduation all doctors do 2 years as a foundation year (FY1-2) doctor. During FY2 doctors often spend 4 months in general practice.

Following the foundation training doctors enter speciality training. This lasts a further 3 years if becoming a GP or 5 years for hospital based specialities.

During the last year of GP speciality training doctors are known as GP Registrars and are attached to a training practice for 1 year.

Our current junior doctors are:

Dr  Zakir-Ul Mulk   GP Registrar (male)

Dr Ramya Santhanakrishnan   GP Registrar (remale)

Dr Jenny Graham   FY2 Doctor (female)

As a patient you may freely book appointments with our junior doctors. You may be asked if you mind having your consultation videoed for training purposes. You can refuse both before or after the consultation.

Such videos are used to train doctors in techniques such as communication skills. They are watched with their GP Trainer and a small number are watched by doctors from outside the practice. No none medical staff see them.
